Leaf Triangular Shawl
Leaf centre with crocheted picot edge (aprox. 23 ins. from base to point)
MATERIALS:
Patons Beehive Fingering 3 ply Patonised, or Patons Carefree Canadiana Fingering 3 ply: 3 (1oz) balls. Two No.8 Milward Knitting Needles or whichever needle size you require to produce the tension of 7 sts and 9 rows = 1 inch in Stocking st. One Medum Crochet Hook.
You must use the exact yarns specified in order to be sure of satisfactory results.
Beginning at point, cast on 3 sts.
1st row: Inc. 1st in 1st st. k2
2nd row: Inc 1st in 1st st, p1, k2.
3rd row: Inc 1st in 1st st, knit to end of row.
4th row: Inc 1 st in 1st , purl to last 2 sts, k2.
Repeat 3rd and 4th rows to 13 sts on needle.
Proceed in pattern as follows:-
1st row: Inc 1 st in 1st , k2tog, k3, yo, k1, yo, k3, k2tog, k1.
2nd and alternate rows: Inc 1 st in 1st , purl to last 2 sts, k2.
3rd row: Inc 1 st in 1st , k1, k2tog, k2, yo, k3, yo, k2, k2tog, k2.
5th row: Inc 1 st in 1st , k2, k2tog, k1, yo, k5, yo, k1, k2tog, k3
7th row: Inc 1 st in 1st , k3, k2tog, yo, k7, yo, k2tog, k4.
9th row: Inc 1 st in 1st , k5, yo, k3, k2tog, k4, yo, k6
**11th row: Inc 1 st in 1st , *k2otg, k3, yo, k1, yo, k3, k2tog. Repeat from * to last st, k1.
12th and alternate rows: Inc 1 st in 1st , purl to last 2 sts, k2.
13th row: Inc 1 st in 1st , k1 *k2tog, k2, yo, k3, yo, k2, k2tog. Repeat from * to last 2 sts, k2.
15th row: Inc 1 st in 1st , k2 *k2tog, k1, yo, k5, yo, k1, k2tog. Repeat from * to last 3 sts, k3.
17th row: Inc 1 st in 1st , k3 *k2tog, yo, k7, yo, k2tog. Repeat from * to last 4 sts. k4.
19th row: Inc 1 st in 1st , k5 *yo, k2, k2tog, k4, yo, k2tog. Repeat from * to last 15 sts. yo, k3, k2tog, k4, yo, k6.
20th row: As 12th row. **
Repeat from ** to** 17 times more. (222 sts on needle),
Next row: Inc 1 st in 1st , knit to end of row.
Next row: Inc 1 st in 1st , purl to last 2 sts, k2.
Repeat last 2 rows 3 times. Cast off loosely. Do not break wool. Turn.
With wrong side of work facing, work picot edge around shawl as follows :-*ch3, 1dc, in 1st st of ch, Miss 1 st, 1sc in next st.
Repeat from * around, being careful to keep work flat at corners. Fasten off. Using a warm iron and a cloth, carefully and lightly press work or roll shawl in a damp towel for several hours, then spread it out flat and leave until dry.

This is a great go-to pattern. Try substituting your own lace pattern.
