I'm having mine and my Mum's special delivered here to MY HOUSE! Harry on my doorstep. yum, yes please. nb: it is not dirty when the underager is fictional.
Do you know who the half-blood prince is? I have so many theories about what the book will be and where the story's going. I will not bore you with these as some of you in the UK may already have the book, nor will I disturb you with my Dan Radcliffe tending a flock of alpaca fantasies. 'fice to say I will be reading, not knitting for a few days, which is really too bad cause.....

BIG NEWS: My mum is awesome (not the news): she has rescued about 10 bags of sheep fleece from a farm near Napanee; a colleague of hers had to sell his farm and at 30 cents a pound, decided not to bother selling-or cleaning-the sheepy wool they had just shorn. Now it is all mine ::bwa ha ha ha:: and with my NSCAD access through the weaving class I should be able to spin it. Yee haw!

You are looking at the making of one **crazy** video...too crazy to get into any details, besides these: 12hours, barn, smoke machine, blackflies, and 50 takes of doing 'the robot'. Matt Mays, you owe me. I will take my payment in Noro. lol.

In other news, I went a-weaving the next morning (photo below), flew to Toronto, flew to Kingston, next morning drove to Ottawa and back and now I'm packing to drive back to Nova Scotia with Mum and the Cat. My project for the 3 day drive (we take our time) is IK's Flower Basket Shawl in Silk Garden. Has anybody else noticed lately that I'm out my tree? I will photograph my progress. I will also tell y'all when to watch for my video debut (but only if I look good in it)

The 'Sampler' part of my weaving project...the begining and end have wacky fibers running through it...mohair, eyelash, ribbon, alpaca, embroidery floss...purples,reds and greys. Should have taken a photo before it all got covered up, but will take many photos when it's off the loom.

news news news. I am done the main part of my possible submission top (which I know means nothing b/c I havn't been blogging about it, but please be happy for me anyway). It is stinking hot here in Halifax and it's about to get worse; I'm flying back to ontario on thursday. I HATE all this heat! I went out to pick up magazines yesterday. I was out 15min. max, and now I have heat stroke. I'm worried 'cause I'm supossed to go to the beach tomorrow to be an extra in a Matt Mays video. (too funny on it's own-I'm not even sure how I got on the list) I think I will die in the sun. Would it be too pretentious to take a 'brolly? I left my parasol in Kingston. I will be the extra in a burqa.

Which takes me not so smoothly back to the magazines....have you guys discovered 'Selvedge' yet????



I mean have you got over the whopping $25 price tag and looked inside???? OMG! Seriously, it's worth it. Let me put it this way; the first ad was from Liberty's and the 2nd Rowan. Even the ads are beautiful and inspirational!!! We seem to be an issue behind here, so do try and find the spring issue if you can.
Is it wrong that this photo gave me an orgasm? So much yarn....must get to one of the NYC or London Knitting events someday. *sigh*

Here's what I made in my Reconstruction class: It was a 50s prom dress in *really* bad shape...it's now a halter top, skirt, and with the extra material; clutch, change purse, and cuffs.





The front view looks a little funky cause the top isn't actually on the judy...she has big shoulders. Also the crinoline issue will be addressed :)

Tonight is my first weaving class which I'm really looking forward to.

More celebrity hat photos; I am perfecting the technique....
This time: Terry and Dean from FUBAR! I went to their 'book launch' and they were sweet as pie and totally in character (I was worried they wouldn't be). If you look closely you can see that I gave them my intarsia devil horns that are at the top of the blogspirit site. I wanted to make them wristbands or a touque but....yeah. Dean thought it would make a good beer coaster for a fancy table, Terry thought it would make a good tie! Anyway take look at the coolest hat photo yet!

They signed my book! Terry said 'Morgan thanks for the toque, give'r, Terry' and Dean said 'Morgan, you knit well. Thanks for the devil horn! D."

So the best is that as I left the comic store (where the signing was) this guy stops me and asks me to be in a documentary about les mecs. So...I explained about the hats (I thought I was in trouble at first) and good god I think I refered to myself as a quasi-Cynthia Plastercaster....OMG. Oh well, look for me in the movies! It freaked me out enough that I didn't go to their shindig in the evening. Came home and knit.

It's official: Summer is here! It's blustery and I still need a cardi most days but look how lovely it was in the public gardens this morning:

I took a stroll after my MD appointment b/c it was soooo sunny out.
On my walk I met a duck and visited the swans and was almost attacked by pigions (sorry, no photo of them)

Then I saw some ducks sinking the Titanic. Look out!

All in all an eventful day in the park. I took one of the swan feathers (from the ground; they bite!) and it is soooo soft, I want to knit swans. Then I had the brilliant idea to knit Bjork's swan dress. Someone on craftster made one so I think I could knit it...but never will. I'm 'that' knitter.

I'm going to take photos at Alteration class tonight...

So I posted the SnB specs on Craftster and within an hour I had a reply! Soon there will be more than we three...let's hope we don't get any crazies *wink*.

In other news I'm REALLY enjoying my sewing and alteration classes at NSCAD. I bought a new sewing machine and now I've decided that my purpose in life is to make big skirts...I'm like that. What I soon discovered is that nice full skirts take a lot of yardage...$$$! So I went round to the Sally Ann and bought an oval tablecloth that I thought would be big enough. Here's what I made:

I love it (pardon the crap photo) but there wasn't enough tablecloth to make a proper waistband. It *just* meets at the back; great if I don't plan on sitting down, but I like sitting sometimes, so I think I'll add elastic. My goal is to make crazy gauzy multilayered skirts like the ones at Gypsy Moon. I have also fallen in love with free motion (machine) embroidery, but I suck at it so far. Last night I broke my needle. Will post if anything warrents it. Im also making a handkercheif edged skirt in blacks, and I'm knitting an overskirt for it and will pickup stitches and knit a bodice-in paton's brilliance "copper". Yes yes I have lost my mind and will never finish any of this.

Okay here is my BIG news..............I have my first knitting job!!!! Wheeeeeeeee! Junk and Foibles is a vintage clothing store here in downtown Halifax and they want armwarmers and legwarmers and fingerless gloves for winter. I am v.excited BUT....how shall I make them something I'm proud of and yet not so fancy or time consuming that I don't get my money back? I'm thinking a simple lace pattern wouldn't take too long and that if I make plain arm thingies and duplicate stitch things ontop (skulls, hearts, stars, guitars, bows) that wouldn't take too long. Has anyone else out there in blog land done this? Is it too premature to be thinking about a brand image? I don't think so but I'm pretty damn self-centred. Here's some stuff I've found inspiring lately:

(Bluemarine s/s05) but also Twinkle's chunky stuff I'd like to make coverups/ warmer uppers for the stuff they sell at Free People 'cause it's a little colder up here. What do you think? Should I just stick to plain punky armbands or should I really run with this? I know that not everybody wants to look like me...but they should. Help me before I design a collection.

Ooo IK Magazine with your $9 price tag and Nicky Epstein bags you are a cruel cruel master. This time I want to make...

(just like everybody else lol). I'm hoping that when it comes out the HRM SnBers and I will split the costs of the 'Weekend Satchel'. Terra will get her phd no prob, b/c this was the best idea ever! Before I knew I couldn't go to see Kaffe Fassett in T.O. (Which I have not blogged about b/c I'm still too upset...I even got an honourary membership and personal invite-from the museum, not Kaffe) one of the questions I was going to ask him (of the 'appropriate' read: non sexual questions I have) was if he or Brendan had any tips about how to get started experimenting with colour work when you're on a budget (or not sponsored by Rowan). Don't get me wrong, I spend a lot on yarn and budget for it but sometimes I need 2in of a shade not a ball! $$$! If I ever get my own LYS I think that is something I will do; sell partial balls or bags of scraps in various colourways. Alas, If I ran the world....

Aak! My aging ibook is really giving me trouble and I hate that I can't blog more often! I would like to have more wordy entries but my laptop (her name is 'Dreamboat Annie' the tangerine) cacks out on me after a bit.

I could NOT finish my "Ruffles" scarf from IK's Scarf Style. It's a brilliant pattern but all those short rows take for-ev-er. Sooooo I bound off half and stockinetted up a collar. Here's the detail

I'm really pleased with it! I looks like a tie or a tuxedo ruffle...it also looks amazing draped down the back. Picture it in something black and silky with the ruffle down the back with an evening gown that has a low low open black. Glam! Very deco, I think.

I'm going to do something naughty and back date these next few entries b/c I don't know when I'll be able to blog again and I like all the different thoughts to have different entries. The layout just works better that way:)
